Security - the importance of certification....

by: Andy Gibbs

Many companies tell me that their biggest fear is keeping up with the changing landscape of internet threats. Often they lack the resources to cope with them or feel they have the inadequate in-house expertise to ensure best practice. It's no surprise, therefore, that companies are moving their security into the cloud to benefit from secure hosted services. But how do you decide where to entrust your data and intellectual property – the proverbial crown jewels of any company?

This is where internationally recognised standards such as ISO27001 and PCI-DSS compliance become paramount and demonstrate whether your chosen  partner has done due diligence. Star has successfully achieved ISO27001 certification for its co-location services, along with the PCI-DSS certifications attained last year for our UK datacentres. The role of impartial and independently verified certifications demonstrates to our customers that security is at the heart of the way Star operates. In this way, our customers can be assured that we are a safe haven for the vital systems and data assets that they entrust to our care.

About ISO 27001
ISO 27001 is an internationally recognised standard for security management. It defines best practice for aspects of security across the entire business including physical security, logical access to systems and networks, employee security.
