As companies move to SOA and cloud, concerns around security are being raised. You can understand why, the label ‘cloud’ conjures up a picture of publicly accessible services and applications, spread across multiple locations. The fact is that companies can consume cloud services via private links if they select the right cloud provider.
Example of a private cloud design

Place pay use services inside each data centre and you have your private cloud model. The private cloud model also allows you to outsource legacy hardware and platforms using a more traditional co-location model but sitting alongside pay per use services such as messaging, collaboration, web hosting and server compute power.
