AGA Rangemaster selects cloud platform to infuse ingredients of future growth with Star

ActiveEdge Authentication adds additional layer of security to Star’s Virtual Private Cloud offering

London, 17th November 2011 - AGA Rangemaster, the leading premium kitchen appliances brand, has chosen Star, a provider of on-demand computing and communication services to UK businesses, to deliver its Network MPLS platform and services.

Star will assist in the integration of the Rangemaster and AGA businesses to achieve improved services at reduced costs. The project aims to achieve Return on Investment in just 12 months while service speeds have increased 20-fold and costs have reduced by as much as 40%.

AGA Rangemaster is the global parent of some of the world’s best-loved kitchen brands such as AGA, La Cornue, Rangemaster, Falcon, Rayburn, Grange and Fired Earth. With an 80 year pedigree, the company has recently been reinvigorated through a series of acquisitions, a core competence on which the company prides itself but which requires IT excellence. Imran Hassan, Head of IT at AGA Rangemaster, recently reviewed the organisation’s requirements and capability to deliver to the business plan and opted for Star’s cloud services to help deliver value and change throughout the organisation.

He explains: “Merging two companies can be an opportunity for a total reassessment of how you do things, giving you the freedom to make some choices that will have real impact and improve the business. IT must add value to business processes rather than focussing on infrastructure issues. By appointing Star as our Network services provider we have been able to outsource the delivery of network infrastructure including firewall and VPN. The consequence has been a vast increase in service availability and performance as well as a huge reduction in service costs, helping my team to concentrate on more strategic technology matters. Star understood what our business was doing and what we are looking to achieve. It is a service that we can trust which helped make our decision to partner with Star an easy one.”

Ricky Hudson, Star CEO, commented, “AGA Rangemaster is an interesting company because it not only manufactures a range of products but it deals with every stage of the retail process right up to the point of purchase by the consumer. Not only that, the company operates internationally. This means that the technology requirements of the company are diverse and complex. Moving to a platform that will allow them to move towards a cloud environment has given AGA Rangemaster the opportunity to take a look at all of its systems and reassess them to make sure that they are delivering the most value. We will continue to work with Imran and his team to deliver quality services that they can rely on to support their aggressive growth plans.”
