10,000ft2 facility unveiled as part of multi-million pound investment in small and medium-sized businesses’ online dreams
GLOUCESTER, 26 March 2008: Star Technology Services Limited (Star), the business ISP, has announced the next phase of its multi-million pound investment in a brand new 10,000ft2 data centre. The state-of-the-art facility, at a carefully selected site in Bristol, will provide small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with much-needed data centre capacity, as they grow their online activities through 2008.
A recent survey conducted by Star indicates that at least 40% of SMBs expect their online activities to grow exponentially in 2008, as more websites become e-commerce powerhouses and are hosting more business critical applications online.
Ben White, CEO of Star explains, “2008 looks set to be a year of significant growth for small and medium-sized businesses as they use the Internet to reduce IT cost and gain competitive advantage. Star’s new data centre will enable us to better serve these customers looking to host more of their business critical applications online, it will also enable us to reduce costs, and it will future-proof our business as it goes through a period of considerable growth in the next two years.
“Data centre capacity is an issue for everyone, so Star is making sure that our new facility benefits from all the latest technologies – including virtual machines and virtual firewalls. As well as increasing capacity compared to traditional data centre architectures this approach will also significantly reduce our power consumption and energy costs. This will enable us to ensure that we continue to offer our customers competitive deals.”
