Gloucester – 25 July 2007: Today many businesses are struggling with or facing the danger of flooding. Some can’t physically access their buildings, others have no water or power and many have had to send their employees home.
Paul Watson VP of Star Technology said, “For this reason we have taken the decision to offer any small or medium sized business a free, no obligation two week managed email service to re-route their company email thus allowing employees to work at home without the need for any special software.”
Star, whose head office is based in Gloucester but is unaffected by the flooding, provides business Internet services to more than 4,000 businesses and realise that to the majority of small or medium sized businesses the loss of email communications could prove to be catastrophic.
Watson continued, “Gloucester, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and the surrounding region are all suffering the effects of an unprecedented series of floods. In many cases access to buildings is impossible and, if accessible, many businesses have no water or power and have been forced to send employees home. At this time it is important that communications are available so the effects of the recent events can be determined. In many cases businesses have been unable to access email, a communication life blood for UK businesses.”
Watson concluded, “At Star we pride ourselves on being a trusted partner of small and medium sizes businesses and, being Head Quartered in Gloucester, we can empathise with the difficulties that local businesses are suffering from the flooding and the knock-on effects.”
