Gloucester – 27th June 2007: On the day new Prime Minister Gordon Brown launched his business council for Britain, a survey of small and medium-sized business (SMB) owners reveals that almost two-thirds think that new Prime Minister will have a positive impact on their businesses. Gordon Brown was also favoured over Conservative leader David Cameron by two to one when respondents were asked which party leader would have a more positive impact on their business.
The poll, carried out by the UK’s largest independent B2B Internet Services Provider (ISP) Star Technology, is a boost for Brown on the day he took over from Tony Blair.
Ben White, CEO of Star, explains, “The poll shows that the UK’s SMB owner-managers feel that the change from Blair to Brown will have a positive impact on their businesses. The Government’s Broadband Britain initiative has made high-speed Internet accessible to the majority of UK businesses and has helped small and medium-sized businesses increase their reach and streamline processes.
“As Prime Minister, Gordon Brown must continue Government investment in technology innovation if the UK’s SMBs are to reap the full benefits of the Internet.”
