London, UK, 9 October 2008 - Star, the UK's largest independent business ISP, has announced a regional event for small to medium sized businesses. The event, to be held in London on the 29th October 2008, will highlight the issues facing SMBs in the current economic climate and how they can effectively and efficiently utilise IT within their businesses to confront the downturn. |
The event, which is free to attend, will provide an opportunity to hear about how IT can shape the future of their business in terms of cost savings and help to achieve competitive advantage. Attendees will also get the chance to hear a key note speech from James Caan, one of the Dragons from the BBC's hit show Dragons' Den who has been building and selling businesses for 20 years, who will be discussing how to grow business by motivating the workforce and using innovation and IT to develop and maintain your position as a leader within a specified market. Additional speakers include Robert Epstein, the Head of Small and Medium Business at Microsoft; Cliff Saran, the Managing Editor of Computer Weekly and Steve Donovan, Managing Director of Armstrong Communications. |
The forum will also provide essential information about how IT can support their business and how collaboration tools can be used to reduce costs and increase productivity. Furthermore visitors will have the opportunity to hear about real issues facing customers and their experience of working with Star. The event will provide businesses the chance to discuss the key issues that they face in the current economic environment during a panel debate where registered attendees can submit a question to the panel and receive feedback on an issue directly relevant to them. |
Ben White, CEO of Star, comments: "We are thrilled to be able to provide a forum which allows SMBs to discuss the issues which affect them and be able to address them directly. In the current economic climate, it is all too easy for businesses to feel that they are all alone and having to fend for themselves. These events will hopefully show that other companies are facing the same challenges and, with a little advice and assistance, how all businesses will be able to tackle the problems head on and succeed." |
The event will be held in London at Lord's Cricket Ground on 29th October. For more information and to register for the event go to www.star.net.uk/getahead08. |
