Manchester-based Internet Service Provider Star announces record sales and launches seminar

Manchester, 8th September 2008: Manchester-based Star, the UK’s largest independent business ISP, are on the move. Following another year of consistent growth, the company has secured additional investment from Barclays Bank to the sum of £4.5 million and has moved to prestigious new offices in Salford Quays. As other companies are battening down the hatches to wait out the tough economic climate, Star is planning for further expansion on the back of record sales.
Star first brought its Internet services to Manchester nine years ago and currently employs 14 people in the regional office. The company’s fortunes are clearly on the up, as it takes up residence of its 3,000 sq ft modern waterside office block in Salford Quays and looks to recruit new staff. The latest investment from Barclays Bank was secured to help fund a new state-of-the-art data-centre to serve Star’s 4,000 current and future small and medium business customers with managed, secure, affordable Internet services.
The new Manchester office opening follows on from the company’s best sales quarter in the last three years and its first million pound sales month in July 2008. Justin Walton, regional director for Star’s Manchester business comments, “Business has been thriving because we carefully nurture relationships with customers like Manchester based media agency Media Vest and the PDSA, Britain’s leading Veterinary Charity. We’re confident about the future and will be using the new investment to build strong brand awareness for Star and further enhance our network infrastructure to keep our customer’s businesses running efficiently into the future as the Internet remains a critical component of today’s modern business.”
To help other companies confront the difficulties of the ‘Credit Crunch’, Star is also organising an educational seminar on October 2nd at The Lowry Theatre, Pier 8, Salford Quays, M50 3AZ entitled ‘Get Ahead 08 – The IT Forums’ at which guest speaker from the BBC’s Dragons’ Den, Simon Woodroffe, will join speakers from Microsoft and Computer Weekly, to discuss how IT can help reduce costs and increase competitive advantage.
