The Business Development Managers report into the Regional Sales and Support organisation. The remit is to define and deliver industry leading cloud services to UK mid market organisations. The focus is on positioning Star into the key market segments within region and successfully securing new name accounts into the company. This is achieved by keeping abreast of industry trends and having a maniacal focus on customer business drivers to ensure that Star position and win “relevant cloud based” services.
Individual success will be measured by:
- Sale of the Star portfolio to new logo prospects within the Star 6-8 target verticals (Annual Revenue and Total Contract Contribution)
- Lead the identification and nurturing of accounts, application partners and Cloud Alliance Partners for 2 key verticals within region
- Successful on-boarding of new logo accounts into operations and on to the Account Management team
- Identification of “white space” net new services to sell to new logo accounts
Purpose
To focus specifically on developing and growing new business sales. Specific experience and expertise with proven track record in successful consultative selling of Star’s product portfolio is essential.
On a day-to-day basis to prospect for new business, attend client meetings, grow pipeline, all with an essential outcome of exceeding individual and sales targets.
To own delivery of a sales number against set sales targets.
Principle Accountabilities
- To achieve and exceed a sales booking number in line with targets.
- Be responsible for selling Star’s product solutions in a consultative way, also with ability to position and sell the whole Star vision.
- Developing and executing individual sales plans in line with team targets and regional objectives.
- To manage their individual sales business through the use of the Oracle ERP and CRM system.

Profile of Job Holder
Essential
- Proven personal sales track record
- Educated to degree level or relevant experience
- Proven track record in the field of selling Hosting, Unified Communications, Security, Voice and Networking application sales in a consultative environment.
- Excellent business acumen
- Good level of technical knowledge across a wide range of technologies (data and voice services, network and email security, infrastructure, business software and managed technology), combined with an ability to articulate these technologies to a non-technical audience
- Good standard of written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Good time-management and organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to represent Star strongly overall in front of groups (internally and externally)
- Excellent communication and motivational skills
- Full, clean driving licence
Desirable
- Track record and experience of positioning and selling virtualised solutions and ‘cloud based’ applications.
