Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Product Marketing, the Proposition Marketing Manager will take particular responsibility for building relevant propositions using market segment specific messaging in line with Star’s existing service catalogue. The role includes responsibilities for new service launch and development of market focussed propositions using existing services.

Principle Accountabilities

 To be the brand champion for service portfolio messaging both internally and with external parties. The Proposition Marketing Manager will develop engaging propositions by getting close to the customer and understanding their needs.

  • Understand and define the context in which the customer is making buying decisions.
  • Bridge customer business requirements to technical feature set and broader market trends
  • Engage with customers to gain greater insight and to inform product development and refinement of messaging.
  • Identify the competitive advantages of our product/service as they relate to the customer’s needs and alternative solutions
  • Identify pitfalls, including competitive response to the promise.
  • Build compelling market focussed propositions using Star’s range of services in specific target market segments.
  • Develop launch plans for each new service release(s) in the Star portfolio. Define marketing strategy in conjunction with other marketing, sales and product development functions, including: positioning, messaging, benefits, promotional mix and sales tools.
  • Work closely in particular with sales teams and regional directors to give them the tools they need to be successful.
  • Establish credibility and confidence with all teams within Star and directly with customers and vendors.
  • Develop marketing collateral including web content, service overviews, proposals, product guides, demos etc
  • Work with campaign and online marketing managers to deliver collaterals and assets to meet objectives for lead generation and awareness.
  • Carry out messaging training across Star for new and existing propositions.

Profile

Critical qualities for success in this role will include leadership, drive, and relationship management coupled with the experience and flair to ensure strong support from the team and other functions in Star. This person will demonstrate maturity, strength and the proven ability to merge strategic thinking with deliverables and operational success.

Profile of Job Holder

Essential

  • Must have proven product marketing experience within the ICT or software industry and a track record in completing projects within time and budget.
  • Experience in B2B marketing and solutions selling concepts
  • Creative in formulating market positioning and building sales enablement tools.
  • Energetic and flexible individual possessing a high level of self-confidence and ability to influence individuals at all levels
  • Highly organised with a 'can do' attitude who is capable of working alone and with others to develop a plan and then ensure the its successful implementation
  • Demonstrable project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and successfully manage multiple projects
  • Proven experience of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Ability to analyse and report trends
  • Full driving licence

Desirable
